We’re delighted to be guests again at the San Diego Comic Fest (SDCF). Started by one of the original founders of the now-gargantuan San Diego Comic-Con, SDCF lives up to its billing as a “friendly, intimate comic con experience.” It’s the kind of show where you can attend panels and talk to comic book creators without having to stand in mile-long lines. Stop on by and say hi!
Our panels include:
“Social Fandom for Geek Properties” (Anina) – Sunday 2/19, 10am in the Kirby Cafe
“Comic Storytelling Revolution” (Anina & Paul) – Sunday 2/19, 1pm in Palm A – We join Rob Salkowitz to examine the evolution of comic books from the printed page into a new digital medium that combines illustration, motion, and even immersive virtual reality. Is it still comics if the images move?
“Spotlight on Roberta Gregory and Donna Barr” (Anina) – Monday 2/20, 11am in Palm A – Anina interviews Roberta and Donna, two indie comic book legends and all-around badass ladies.
“Making Comics: Aztec Empire” (Anina & Paul) – Monday 2/20, 1pm in Palm B – A behind-the-scenes look at Paul’s and artist David Hahn’s creative process on their epic new series.
“The Portland Comics Scene: What’s Going On?” (Anina & Paul) – Monday 2/20, 2pm in Palm B – We and Image Comics founder Jim Valentino discuss the thriving comic book scene in Portland, Oregon, which is now home to Image, IDW, Dark Horse, Oni, the CBLDF, Helioscope Studio, and much more.
